The Itinerary
Day 1: Arrive in Ljubljana
Our guide will pick you up from Ljubljana airport. We will get settled at our accommodations to rest/refresh before dinner. Free to walk along the beautiful pedestrian only zone near the river to take in the historical and architectural uniqueness of a city that embraces the old and the new.
Day 2: Funicular | Castle | City
Ljubljana has so much to offer. Today we will explore the capital city of Slovenia and learn more about its history with a walking city tour and a visit to the Ljubljana Castle. We will ride a funicular to the castle to enjoy great city views. There is something here for everyone. If you enjoy arts/museums, the choices are many. There are options for a “foodie” exploration of the regional cuisine, a distillery tour and tasting, or if “hops” is your game, a beer tasting outing. If you prefer a leisurely day of integration, cruise the river via boat and walk along the river where you can delight in a cappuccino, fresh pastry, and great people watching.
Day 3: Rastoke Village | Plitvice National Park
We will stop to take in the beauty and wonder of Rastoke village - a quintessential “must -see” Croatia village.

Day 4: Plitvice National Park
Today we venture into the oldest and largest national park in Croatia. Plitvice Lakes National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage site known for its stunning natural beauty. The park features a series of cascading lakes and waterfalls, formed by the confluence of several small rivers. The lakes are renowned for their vibrant turquoise waters, which change color depending on the mineral content and sunlight.
Spanning over 73,000 acres, Plitvice is home to diverse flora and fauna, including various species of birds, deer, and even bears, oh my! The park has a network of wooden walkways and trails that allow visitors to explore its breathtaking landscapes, from lush forests to serene lakes.
In addition to the natural scenery, the park is perfect for hiking, photography, and enjoying the tranquility of nature. It’s a must-visit destination for anyone traveling to Croatia, offering a memorable experience amidst some of the country’s most picturesque scenery. You will never want to leave this magical place! Day 5 & 6: Exploring Rovinj
We will spend the morning traveling to the 2,000 year old island city of Rovinj. We love it here and you will too! We can take a short hike en route to check out more waterfalls and the natural beauty of Croatia. Then, just as in Ljubljana, we will stay and play in the pedestrian zone of Old Town Rovinj. With its charming winding streets, vibrant harbor, and exceptional seafood restaurants, this town offers an unforgettable experience that will create lasting memories. For dinner we will dine seaside and enjoy fresh coastal cuisine at one of our favorite restaurants in Rovinj.
On Day 5 walk the wonderful trails along the Adriatic Sea or rent a bike and pedal away. As the day fades we will enjoy a sunset cruise around the 14 island archipelago to glimpse the where dolphins frequently play.

Day 7: Pula Roman Ruins and Kayaking
Pula is known for its rich history and well-preserved Roman architecture. The city's most famous landmark is the Arena, a massive Roman amphitheater that dates back to the 1st century AD and is one of the best-preserved in the world.
Pula also boasts a charming old town, featuring ancient temples and cobblestone streets lined with cafes and shops.
Kayaking and snorkeling are definitely a must. Play in some of the clearest water in the world while we paddle along stunning cliffs and in unique caves. With its blend of history, culture, and beautiful coastal scenery, Pula is a captivating destination that highlights Croatia's diverse heritage.

Day 8: Skocjan Caves | Predjama Castle | Bled
Today we leave Croatia and head into Slovenia on our way to beautiful Bled. We will visit one of the largest cavern systems on the planet.

Day 9: Pletna Boat | Bled Castle
Bled is like visiting a 3D postcard. The lake is stunning, the castle majestic, and the Bled cream cake divine! We will take a Pletna boat to the island and view the 17th century church built there. Spend the afternoon walking or biking around the lake with options to go ziplining, kayaking, rafting, SUP, or paragliding.
Day 10: Triglav National Park | Alpine Museum | Vintgar Gorge
Today we will head deeper into Triglav National Park. Slovenia’s only national park, it encompasses the majestic Julian Alps. Named after Mount Triglav, Slovenia's highest peak, the park is renowned for its stunning landscapes, including rugged mountains, pristine lakes, and lush valleys. The park is also home to diverse flora and fauna, showcasing Slovenia’s rich biodiversity. Spend time exploring and learning about the rich climbing history of this region. After a morning hike and some warm soup at the lodge, we take in the majestic grandeur of Vintgar Gorge.
Day 11 & 12: Bohinj & Tomlin Gorge
Prepare for an unforgettable day as we set off to explore the stunning Bohinj Lake region. Lake Bohinj is the largest lake in Slovenia. The crystal-clear waters invite swimming and kayaking, while enchanting villages and a network of hiking trails offer endless adventures. Enjoy a scenic cable car ride to Mount Vogel where you will be rewarded with panoramic views of the majestic Alps and Lake Bohinj.
On Day 12 we travel into the wine country of Slovenia after a hike in Tolmin gorge, a stunning natural wonder carved by the Tolminka River. Additional hiking options this afternoon on our way to one of our favorite stops of the trip, a locally owned and operated organic winery. Their wine is an international award winner, harvested and vinted by the same family for seven generations.
