Unroll your mat where the Incas once worshipped the sun. This retreat weaves twice-daily yoga practice into a deep immersion in the Sacred Valley — local markets, farm-to-table meals, spiritual ceremony, and the ruins of an empire that built in stone what most civilizations couldn't dream of in a lifetime.
Based at a serene hacienda retreat in the heart of the Sacred Valley, this trip is built around rhythm: morning and evening yoga bookending days spent exploring Pisac, the Maras salt mines, Moray's agricultural terraces, and the weaving villages of Chinchero. Our long-time partner and guide has called this valley home his entire life — his family farm, his hometown market, and his relationships with local artisans open doors that don't exist on a typical tour. Add in a private ceremony among Inca ruins, a Pachamanca earth-oven feast, and a full day at Machu Picchu, and you have a retreat that nourishes the body, the practice, and the spirit in equal measure.
This itinerary can flex to fit your group's size, experience level, and yoga style — talk to us about tailoring the pace or route.

Itinerary
DAY 1: ARRIVAL & WELCOME TO THE SACRED VALLEY
Fly into Cusco and meet your guide at the airport. From there, we drive down into the Sacred Valley, watching snow-capped peaks give way to the fertile floor of the Urubamba River valley. Arrive at our hacienda retreat, settle in with a cup of coca tea, and ease into your first afternoon yoga session as you acclimatize. The evening brings a welcome dinner and a concert of traditional Andean folk music.
Included: Lodging, welcome dinner & concert, private airport transfer, yoga studio access.
DAY 2: PISAC RUINS, HIDDEN INCA TRAIL & SPIRITUAL CEREMONY
After morning yoga and breakfast, we drive into the Sacred Valley to the terraced ruins of Pisac, perched high above the valley floor. Your guide walks you through the site's religious, military, and astronomical history, and there's time for a short hike along a lesser-known original Inca trail and through an Inca-built tunnel — few visitors ever see this stretch. Before we leave, your guide leads a private ceremony giving thanks to Pachamama, right in the shadow of the ruins. Lunch and a stop at Pisac's handicraft market round out the day before we head back to the retreat for evening yoga and dinner.
DAY 3: LOCAL MARKET, FAMILY FARM & CHICHA
Morning yoga and breakfast come first, then a visit to the real, working market in our guide's hometown of Urubamba — not a tourist stop, but where locals shop for produce, chilies, and a staggering variety of Peruvian potatoes. From there, we head to a family farm for a hands-on afternoon: touring the orchards, cutting alfalfa for the guinea pigs, and learning to make chicha, the traditional fermented corn drink of the Incas. Lunch is cooked fresh from the farm. There's an option to practice yoga right there on the farm grounds before returning to the retreat.
Included: Breakfast, lunch, dinner, private transport, snacks, yoga.

DAY 4: MARAS SALT MINES, YOGA AT MORAY & A PACHAMANCA FEAST
Morning yoga and breakfast, then a visit to the Maras salt mines — thousands of terraced pools that have been worked by hand since before the Inca empire. From there we continue to Moray, the concentric circular terraces believed to have served as an Inca agricultural laboratory. This is one of the trip's signature moments: practicing yoga on the terraces themselves, looking down into the ruins. Afterward, we join a local family for a Pachamanca — a traditional meal slow-cooked underground with heated stones — before visiting the weaving cooperative in Chinchero to watch artisans dye and weave using centuries-old techniques.
Included: Breakfast, lunch, dinner, Maras entrance, snacks, private transport, yoga studio.
DAY 5: CUSCO CITY TOUR
Morning yoga and breakfast at the retreat, then a private transfer into Cusco. We start at San Pedro Market for coffee and a walk through the stalls, then head to Plaza de Armas and Cusco Cathedral, where Inca symbolism is woven into the Spanish colonial architecture. From there, we visit Coricancha, once the most sacred Inca temple dedicated to the sun god Inti, and later Sacsayhuaman, the UNESCO World Heritage fortress overlooking the city. We return to the Sacred Valley for evening yoga and dinner.
Included: Breakfast, dinner, Cathedral & Coricancha entrance, private transport. Not included: Lunch, Sacsayhuaman entrance (covered by boleto turístico).
DAY 6: OLLANTAYTAMBO & TRANSFER TO AGUAS CALIENTES
Morning yoga and breakfast, then a transfer to Ollantaytambo, one of the best-preserved Inca towns in Peru, where original 15th-century buildings still line the streets. We explore the fortress terracing, the Sun Temple, and the Wall of the Six Monoliths before boarding the Vistadome train for the scenic ride to Aguas Calientes. Settle into your hotel with time to soak in the town's hot springs before an early night — Machu Picchu awaits.
Included: Breakfast, snacks, train tickets, hot springs entrance, hotel. Not included: Lunch, dinner.

DAY 7: MACHU PICCHU
An early start puts you on one of the first buses up to Machu Picchu for sunrise. Your guide leads a two-hour tour through the citadel's highlights — the Intihuatana sun clock, the Temple of the Sun, the Temple of the Condor, and the Temple of the Three Windows — with free time afterward to explore on your own (or tackle Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain, if you've secured a permit in advance — ask us early, as these sell out). We return to Cusco by train and private transfer for the night.
Included: Breakfast, snacks, bus to/from Machu Picchu, train to Ollantaytambo, private transfer to Cusco. Not included: Lunch, dinner.
DAY 8: CUSCO FREE DAY & DEPARTURE
Enjoy a final morning yoga session at a studio in Cusco, then a free morning to wander San Blas, browse the markets, or visit a museum before we gather for a farewell lunch and transfer to the airport.
Included: Breakfast, farewell lunch, yoga studio, airport transfer.

Optional Add-On: The Inca Trail Extension
Want to earn your arrival at Machu Picchu on foot? Add the Inca Trail.
This yoga retreat is designed to pair beautifully with our full Inca Trail trek for travelers who want to combine daily practice with the classic four-day/five-day pilgrimage to Machu Picchu.
This is a distinct physical undertaking from the rest of the retreat — multiple days of high-altitude trekking and camping — and is offered as an add-on rather than a built-in leg of the yoga itinerary.
Inca Trail extension includes: Inca Trail permit, professional trekking crew and porters, camping equipment, all trail meals, and the same Machu Picchu guided tour described above.
Pace/Activity for the extension: Activity Rating 4/5 — moderate-to-challenging trekking at altitude, multiple consecutive days on foot, camping conditions.
Ask us about combining the Sacred Valley Yoga Retreat with the full Inca Trail, or with our shorter routes (2-day or short Inca Trail options) for a lighter add-on.
