ITINERARY
Day 1: Arrival in Reykjavik
Welcome to Iceland! Get a private transfer from the airport to your hotel and enjoy the rest of your free day or
add an optional excursion.
Day 2: Reykjanes peninsula with Blue Lagoon
Leave the bustle of Reykjavik behind as you travel around the Reykjanes peninsula. Visit the Lighthouse and
check lava fields. Here is where the last three recent eruptions happened in the country.
On this day, also visit the Blue Lagoon, a unique geothermal spa situated in the youngest lava field in west
Iceland. It offers many recreational options such as bathing in the milky blue water, enjoying an outdoor
massage or spa treatment, or simply walking in the spectacular surroundings of the Lagoon.
On site there is also a fantastic restaurant with á la carte menu, a smaller cafeteria and bar, and the Blue Lagoon
shop; selling skin care products based on the unique blend of Blue Lagoon geothermal seawater active
ingredients: minerals, silica, and algae, as well as various Icelandic designer clothing and art.
Day 3: Reykjavík - Golden Circle
We begin the day with driving to Thingvellir National Park, a historical site where the Icelandic parliament was
founded in the 10th century. It is also on the UNESCO World Heritage List and considered one of the
geological wonders of the world where you will see astonishing fissures and lava fields.
Then we continue to explore the attractions along the “Golden Circle” with the famous Gullfoss, surely one of
the country’s most beautiful waterfalls. Only a few kilometers away is the Geysir area where the geyser
Strokkur ejects its water column high into the air every 5–10 minutes and where numerous small springs boil
and bubble.
A small detour will take you the Geothermal Energy Exhibition, an interactive museum on Iceland’s volcanic
processes at Hellisheiði Power Plant.
Day 4: South Coast
Journey through the captivating South Coast, a lowland of lush farmlands, waterfalls, beaches, glaciers, and villages.
Capture Eyjafjallajökull volcano, weather permitting. Walk behind Seljalandsfoss waterfall. See Skógafoss waterfall, opt for a guided hike up the hill.
Admire Sólheimajökull glacier and Reynisfjara's black sands. Spot puffins at Dyrhólaey Arch (seasonal).
Day 5: The South Coast continued
Continuing along the south coast and through Kirkjubæjarklaustur village. Here, you can walk up to the
beautiful Fjaðrárgljúfur canyon.
If the weather is good we will Helicopter over the Skaftafell Glacier to a remote valley for remote hike.
Day 6: The South Coast continued
Our next visit is to the stunningly surreal beauty of Jökulsarlón, a glacial Lagoon. Here we take a boat tour
among floating icebergs.
On the way back to the hotel, we visit Skaftafell National Park, an oasis surrounded by glaciers and black sand
plains. The place offers a broad range of options for great hiking.
Discover an ice cave with a tour in a Super Jeep. Strap on your crampons, and step into the mighty glaciers and
ice caves of South Iceland. Prepare for movie-like landscapes and jaw-dropping sights like nothing you've ever
done before. We will hike across the Myrdalsjokull glacier, then visit the amazing blue and black ice cave of the
Kötlujökull glacier on Mt. Katla.
Day 7: East Fjords Region
Travel to the East Fjords region. Stop for photos and short walks as you continue to the East Fjords region.
Along the way, we make a stop at Fjallsálón Glacier Lagoon, whose surface is dotted with floating icebergs,
and in Djúpavogur.
After lunch, depending on weather, take scenic walk among birdlife at Búlandsnes sanctuary. Easy trails lead
you around the marshland, ponds, beaches, and dunes viewing important breeding ground for birds including
shelduck, northern shoveler and Slavonian grebe to name a few.
In the village of Stöðvarfjörður we will visit the stone and mineral collection of Petra, a lady from the region
whose name predestined her to devote her life to the collection of beautiful stones and minerals that abound in
the East Fjords.
Day 8: East Iceland continued
After breakfast, we walk to the French Museum for a visit. In the museum, the interesting history and legacy of the French sailors in Iceland is shown by means of the latest multimedia technology.
Short after we drive towards north on the Eastfjords and their small fishing villages and pass through the villages of Reyðarfjörður, Fáskrúdsfjörður, and the beautiful Seyðisfjörður, where we can stop for a calm walk and lunch.
We later arrive in Möðrudalur. Right in the middle of "nowhere" in the wilderness of Iceland, you will find the highest inhabited farm in Iceland Möðrudalur á Fjöllum - Möðrudalur in Öræfi at 469 meters (1,539 ft) above sea level. There has been a farm in Möðrudalur since the settlement of Iceland and one of the leading farms of Iceland was located here in the olden times.
Day 9: Mývatn
Today we continue our tour through the desert highlands of Möðrudalsöræfi, heading to Myvatn.
First, we drive to Ásbyrgi, a horse-shoe-shaped gorge reputed to be the hoof print of Odin’s eight-legged horse
Sleipnir. Short walk in the canyon before heading to our next stop: the mighty Dettifoss, Iceland's and Europe’s
most powerful waterfall, which thunders 44 meters into a deep gorge.
One of Mývatn ́s main attractions is Námaskarð geothermal area where you will find bubbling mud pools and
hissing steam vents. We must not miss the Krafla area with the crater Víti and lateron we take a walk through
the Dimmuborgir Lava Labyrinth.
Day 10: Akureyri via Goðafoss
On our way to Akureyri we stop at Goðafoss, the waterfall of the pagan gods, a place which is closely
connected with one of the most important events in Icelandic history, the conversion to Christianity from
heathendom in the year 1000.
Enjoy a free afternoon in Akureyri, the second-largest settlement in the country outside of the capital region.
The city is often referred to as Iceland's "Capital of the North."
Day 11: Sightseeing tour of Siglufjörður
Immerse yourself in Icelandic culture with a visit to Siglufjörður town. Trace the nation's maritime heritage
alongside a local guide at the Herring Era Museum. Delight in a herring tasting, a significant Icelandic culinary
tradition, complemented by Brennivín schnapps.
In the afternoon, embark in a whale watching tour from Akureyri harbour.
Day 12: Akureyri – Reykjavík
From Akureyri we continuey our journey to Skagafjörður region is known for horse breeding and many
Icelandic horses can be seen grazing in the fields of the Skagafjörður valley.
We make our way just north of Varmahlíð to visit the Glaumbær museum, which is one of the best-preserved turf farmhouses in Iceland.
From there, we make our way to Reykjavík.
