- Photocopy of passport in case you lose the real one
- Credit / Debit Cards
- Phone w/ waterproof case
- Phone Charger
- External battery
- Camera & charger with extra memory
- Headlamp / flashlight with extra batteries
- A good novel
- Small travel pillow (doubles as pillow if camping)
- iPod/MP3 Player & charger

- Hiking Poles for hike heavy trips

- Local currency in small bills (can get at your bank weeks before departure, break large bills at currency exchange before leaving airport if possible)
- Day pack / backpack (Dual purpose carry-on and hiking pack)
- 1 suitcase / duffle bag
- Jeans/trousers/comfortable pants
- Quick dry pants
- Shorts
- T-shirts (multiple short, one long, one quick dry/sun repellent of each)
- Sweatshirt or Fleece
- Rain Jacket / Poncho

- Insect repellant
- Sturdy Water Bottle with 1 Liter capacity (2-3 liters needed for longer hikes in wilderness)

- Sunglasses (& clear lense glasses for cloudy/rainy/windy days)
- Sunscreen
- Sunhat
- Thin Gloves (warm gloves if colder weather)
- Swimsuit/boardshorts
- Hiking shoes or boots (broken in)

- Mouthpiece cover
- Towel (microfiber/quick-dry works best for travel, but is not a necessity)
- Chap stick
- Soap/Soap Sheets (Much more effective for preventing communicable illness than hand sanitizer)
- Toilet paper for camping and emergencies

- Blister kit for hike heavy trips
